Lajçak writes about the dialogue, he does not mention the fact that the attackers of the Kosovo Police were Serbian terrorists
The EU mediator for the dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak, has written about the developments of the event in the north of Kosovo, where a Kosovar policeman was killed by Serbian terrorist groups. He said that “such a cowardly act of violence is deeply disturbing and is contrary to the very principles of peace and cooperation”.
Lajçak wrote about the necessity of dialogue preventing violence. The EU mediator expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased.
“On my return from New York this morning, I received the shocking news of an attack on Kosovo policemen in the north of Kosovo. Such a cowardly act of violence is deeply disturbing and is contrary to the very principles of peace and cooperation. My heart goes out to the victims, their families, friends and colleagues. This horrific attack further underscores the need for diplomacy and preventive dialogue, underscored last week when I attended the UN General Assembly’s high-level week in New York. On the high-level sidelines, I spoke with numerous executives and colleagues from around the world. In one way or another, we all emphasized the importance of dialogue and cooperation. I also met the six presidents from the Western Balkans and senior UN officials to discuss regional dynamics,” Lajcak said.
He also wrote that he had held strategic discussions with his American partners on the issue of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia. In conclusion, Lajçak said that in the coming days he would focus “on finding a way forward”.
“HR/VP Borrell also organized a traditional Western Balkan lunch to align our messages for this week on the global stage. To find a way forward in the region and in particular in the Dialogue, I held strategic discussions with our American partners. This year I especially appreciated the dinner with the former presidents of the General Assembly and the current President of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly. It was great to be back at the UN, but after a week of “global speed dating” it was time to head back to Brussels. In the coming days, I will fully focus on finding a way forward,” Lajcak wrote.
