Italy/ 5 workers were killed by the train, they were dragged for several meters
A train in Italy struck and killed five workers who were working on the tracks in the Turin area. Two others miraculously escaped. The accident happened, as reported by the Italian media, shortly after midnight near the railway station of Brandizzo. The train was traveling at 160 kilometers per hour.
Among the victims, the youngest was 22 years old. Workers were carrying out maintenance work at the station when they were hit and dragged hundreds of meters. “Rfi expresses deep pain in the face of what has happened and expresses condolences and closeness to the families of the deceased workers”, it is stated in the announcement of the Railways.
The mayor of Brandizzo, Paolo Bodoni, reacted to the serious event: “It is a tragedy. It cannot be ruled out that it could have been a communication error, in any case we will have to wait for the end of the investigations. At the moment, the identity of the victims is not known, but they are not our fellow citizens”.
